Webcams not just for security…

… well we knew that already of course, and in fact, using a webcam for video monitoring wouldn’t make many people’s Top 10 webcam uses. Of course we’re trying to change that with Camcloud, but one step at at time.

For now, check this out. Very cool webcam application from UPcload that online clothing retailers can embed on their site that sizes shoppers virtually, much the way a tailor would in the physical world. Very cool, but unfortunately according to the article, there hasn’t been much take-up yet. As is often the case, I imagine the technology integration would only be part of the challenge for an e-tailer to adopt this kind of capability.

Regardless, very cool webcam application. One of many out there.
