Research Says Most Smart Home Early Adopter Demographic are Young Males

A survey in 2016 done by a home automation and home care solutions company called “Essence” did a study on smartphone users in the U.S and Europe. Their purpose was to find out how likely smartphone users were to adopt smart home tech.

“The early adopters responded significantly more positively on all behavioral attitudes relevant to smart home products, showing an interest of 70% in innovation, technology, greater convenience, lifestyle and design, on average, as opposed to 23% for all other groups combined.” – Rafi Zauer, Head of Marketing of Essence

These males between the ages of 25 to 35 with high incomes also prefer well-known and reputable brands. Surprisngly, this demographic also stated that they are mostly influenced by TV advertising.
